Norton's, XP, & floppy drive

Been runnin' XP for about a month now and I figured out that I needed a newer ver. of Norton's Sys. Works (2002). I'm installing the last bit of the program, reboots, then I get the message that my sys32/config/ file is missing or corrupt. Tried everything I could think of to restore the computer, but I couldn't get the OS to start, so I did a fdisk/format. I've loaded everthing back on except Norton's, but now, any program I try to start the 'puter is asking (repeatedly) to search drive A:, please install disk. I've read someone had the same basic problem awhile back but I can't remember what their solution was. Also, do you think my Norton problem was a one time occurance or do I need to configure something to load Norton's. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanx in advance!!!
 
Yes I have, and I downloaded more updates again this last night/this morning, and my floppy drive is still searching for disks. Any ideas on why Norton's did what it did?
 
The Norton issue sounds like the good ol XP registry hive corruption (not related to Norton). If you search you'll see a bunch of people in the same boat. One thing that might help is at the end of install, don't choose to reboot. Wait to help make sure the registry are flusehd to disk before you manually restart. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your ide chipset.
