Norton Utilities won't uninstall

I had the 2001 OEM version of Norton Systemworks on my home system, running ME, then switched over to XP. Did all of the stuff you were supposed to as far as downloading the patches,etc. and then converted from Fat32 to NTFS. After I got the new version of systemworks, I tried to uninstall the 2001 version. Most of it uninstalled, but not all of it. The Norton Utilited section will not go away, like it was infected with some wierd self-replicating virus!. I have deleted the sub-directory, tried to run regedit and sysedit to find all cross referrences, but it still comes back. What the hell do I do to get rid of this and upgrade? Funny thing, the same ordeal at my office went off without a hitch, Go figure.
