is it possible to install only certain parts of system works and not everything? for instance lets say i just wanted to install antivirus or just ghost...would that be possible?

Actually, the readme file says to not install components directly from the corresponding folders on the CD. Rather, use the primary setup and select Full Install when prompted. It will then allow you to select which components you wish to install (just uncheck the ones you don't want).

Completely counter-intuitive, I have no idea why Symantec does it this way. It should be called Custom Install, but that's how it's been for at least the last two releases.

Best regards,

You're too kind, it's extremely dumb.

The first time I installed Norton 2000, I stared blankly at the "Choose the Type of Installation" screen for about two minutes. I thought, "I don't want any of those". Finally chose the Full Installation and was pleasantly surprised.

Actually, you want to do the full install/deselect process because NSW uses and integrated launcher to do Live Updates, etc. and doing things piecemeal may cause issues later.

I use NSW2000 and when I updated my Internet Security, it plugged into the SW launcher AND changed the color scheme to match the Norton 2001 look. Wild.

Not enough new to move me up from 2000.
