I just upgraded from 2013 to 2014 edition, and so far, I'm impressed! 😀

It's noticeably significantly faster than the 2013 edition, especially when it comes to scanning and loading web pages. It scanned my entire drive in about half the time as the 2013 edition.

Looks like Norton Internet security 2014 has better multithreading support than it's predecessor (which is probably where the speed improvements came from), as I noticed there was more CPU activity during scans. Norton also claims to have improved the Sonar feature in the 2014 edition to be better against zero day threats, and the repair capability should Windows files become infected.

Avast 2014 RC1 free version is awesome and works with Win8.1 ,no need for paid Norton 😉 .

You must be in a time warp, because ever since 2009, Norton has been one of the leanest antivirus software on the market..

I'm not sure I trust those free versions man. Support isn't as good as in paid versions. I remember once using the free Avira antivirus, and it deleted some of my files via false positive. That was a long time ago though.

umm actually no....
I guess bloat ware was the wrong terminology.....
I tried Nortons way back when for approx. 6 months and then I went back to Ad Aware...mind you this was a few years ago....it seemed like over time even if there was nothing wrong with the computer that Norton`s would say something was wrong when no other programs would agree with Norton`s.
I have no time to put up with many many false positives......sorry that's just how I feel!!
I moved on from Norton`s and will never go back!!

I've used Norton for the past 3 years, and it was one of the smoothest experiences I've ever had. Never a false positive, never an incompatibility.
 
I also just started using Norton and love it. Mainly got it due to very high marks on the firewall. I am using manual control on the firewall and it is very smooth.

Clean GUI. Minimal overhead. Not sure what's not to like about it.
