For example.....

Logged on about 15min ago and within 5min, Norton blocked 2x port scans (I believe it's my ISP doing this) After that, I cannot access any web pages. I'm logged onto the internet but going nowhere. I restart the computer and everything is fine after that.

I'm sure it's just a setting or something within the Firewall. Can anyone help?

That's alot of help.

Ok, here's another explanation as to what's going on.

Im being scanned by what seems to be my own ISP and other closely related ISP's.
I have Norton Internet Sercutiy as my firewall and its set to block the IP address that does a port scan to me that lasts for 30 mins. When its blocked my connection no loner works. I'm logged onto the internet but can't go anywhere. The portscans are very random but annoying. I can make the problem go away by rebooting but the next day when I log onto the internet, the same thing happens.

I know about the Intrusion Detection settings for Signatures and IP Addresses but not sure what to set or leave alone.

I've been using Norton for 2 years now with Zero problems. If you look closely, all the antivirus programs in the overview do a decent job in detection. It all comes down to what people like, how fast the program runs the scanner, etc. I also find no problems with bloatware or slowing down my system. I may look into upgrading to something else when my online liscence (virus definitions) expires in October, but until then, I'm sticking with Norton.
OVERVIEW

The problem I'm having is from an incorrect setting I just know it, not a program problem.

I only use the Firewall & Antivirus anyway with Norton. For the other anti adware and spam programs I use Adaware Plus, Spybot s&d & Spampal.
For Internet security type programs that includes both a Firewall and Virus protection, what's good? I need 1 piece of software that can do just these 2 things. No need for a huge load of crap Utility Suite I'll never use half of.
