Hello,

Does anyone know if it's possible to make a bootable Norton Ghost CD-R that will allow me to boot from a cd-rom and then burn images on a cd-rw drive? I tried making a bootable cd-r from a "cd-rw' floppy made with the Ghost Boot Wizard (with both EZCD and Nero), but everytime I boot with it the computer gives me a message: "oduction Use" (sic) and then stops.

I believe what you are wanting to do is operate from dos to burn to cdrw.

Perhaps if you reworded your question someone would know how to do this. I don't think NG is the approach.
It uses dos boot up disk files to enable the cdr or cdrw drive, but applies writing to cd inside the NG application software.
Once you abort the program, the use of the cdrw isn't there.

So in short, it can be done, but software is the answer.

Yes, that's pretty much it. It's possible to create a bootable floppy (using the software included in the Norton Ghost package) that will allow you to write images of your hard drive to a cd-rw drive. It works fine.

What I want to do, is make a bootable cd-r to use in lieu of the floppy. I've made bootable cd-r's from floppies before, but when I do it with the Norton floppy, I get the 'oduction Use' message.

You are saying that you CAN use the Norton boot up floppy to burn to a cdrw?

If so, do you simply use copy commands from dos to do so? Or how do you say, copy a directory and its files to the cdrw?

Have you tried burning a bootable floppy to a cdr using WinISO to create the iso and any burning app to make the cd?
