Please take no offense OP.. this is directed at the product.. not you.

I actually made the mistake of buying Ghost 14 a few months back as it had a $50 rebate(which was a PITA to get... but finally got) making it $5. I had been using Ghost 2003 boot disks to make images but it's getting to the point that 2003 does not recognize newer hardware and simply hangs on boot. So I figured G14 would solve my issues. Bzzzt... wrong! You can no longer make boot disks. Norton in their infinite wisdom has moved that functionality to their "enterprise" edition as us poor schlep "regular" users who made Ghost a success to begin with are no longer sophisticated enough to need the boot disks according to their support guru's.

So I say -F Norton. Until they put the ability to make boot disks back into the standard edition thry can spin at any price point. My G14 DVD is collecting dust as I do not need that POS taking up disk space.

Acronis True Image is $24.99 today only....I want to see some reviews of ghost 15 before I would decide between the two.

I'm the only person I know IRL that ever used ghost.

99% of software like that makes its money selling to business and corps though, is what I was really alluding too. and end consumers get it because well, why not water it down and sell it to us too, thats all

Before Symantec bought Ghost it was several hundred dollars to buy one license. This is one product I can guarantee was not initially a consumer oriented program. Sorry AMDScooter, you are wrong!

So even the new Ghost 15 does not let you create boot disks? What if windows gets corrupted and won't let you boot into it, how would you restore then? Acronis True Image has had this feature for quite awhile. It is a critical feature to have.

If any of you don't plan on using advanced features for imaging your computer, Macrium Reflect has a free edition and so does Paragon. Not sure which is better, I think Paragon might offer more features in their free edition but I'm not sure. Either one would be better then the built it one that comes with the higher versions of windows vista and 7.

Macrium Reflect Free Edition

Paragon Backup & Recovery 10 Free Edition

Here is a link that shows the features the free Paragon edition has. It looks like it has more then the free editition of reflect.

I've used Macrium Free and it's about as fast as Acronis. Paragon 2008 was kinda slow and made larger images but they have a newer version which should be improved by now.
