hi, i recently got myself an intel p4 1.6...but i aint sure if its a northwood. since there is no mention of it in the box. i used cpuid to check my cpu, and it sez i only have 256 of l2 cache, all northwoods have 512 right? I went to the intel site to check what i have, and ill paste what ive read there...

512 KB L2 Advanced Transfer Cache available with speeds 2.40 GHz, 2.20 GHz and 2A GHz.

256 KB L2 Advanced Transfer Cache available with speeds 1.60 GHz to 2 GHz.

are these the specs of the original P4? im confused now, in some sites i saw posted screenshots of cpuid with their 1.6a norths that they have 512 of l2 cache.

anyway here's what it sez that i have:

478pin factor
256L2 cache

do i have a northwood? coz if not Ill have it replaced coz i specifically asked for a northwood.

northwoods are 512 on cache. 1.6a , 1.8a, 2.0a and so on with blah.a is northwood.
if it says 1.6 and its 256k then its a willie.

It's not dumb, there's no need to add the "A" to the 2.2ghz and up because there are no willy cpu above 2ghz.:)

oh i know i know, but its typically inconsistant of them isnt it? ;) lol

off the top of head id say it would make more sense to just continue the "A" series. i mean we already know there is a "B"(133) and possibly "C"(166) and "D"(200) series coming soon...
