Your sig says that your memory is at 434 Mhz. How did you figure that?

PC3500 is DDR434

I think he means, how is it actually running at that speed?.... I'm new to the P4 scene myself... I know there's dividers (3:4 etc.) but I don't see how he's running it at 434 either.

And is it just me or does that memory bandwidth kick serious ass? Even 3374/3369 at default settings (133) is good is it not? And his OC gets him like 3800.

He can't run it at PC3500 (DDR 434) speed on a Granite bay Asus P4G8X board. Unless he can get some sort of massive overclock(ie; 217 Mhz FSB) although it is possible with an ES CPU and/or Prometeia. I was curious as to if Sandra would read this new board correctly at DDR 316(158 X 2) and was leading up to that question with him.

I better remove that.

That was from my previous system with the Asus P4PE.

I was too quick to just change the motherboard info and forgot about the memory part.

I was using the Asus P4PE previously.

sorry guys.

Ok so all you P4 guys, please answer me this: do those mem scores kick ass or not in your opinion?

For a 133MHz bus they kick major butt. I'm waiting for the Granite Bay to hit retail here in the US. I already have two identical 512MB Samsung PC27100 modules to put in there.

Getting that kind of bandwidth at DDR 300/320 speeds is exceptional. Sandra doesn't show the whole picture here though. Games and benchmarks like UT2003 like lots of fast memory(fast meaning aggressive cas settings). With lots of true bandwidth in the equation you're gonna see a significant increase in real world performance. And, when people start writing code to take advantage of this.........And when we get better memory modules next year as we move towards Hyperthreading, 800 Mhz FSB and Prescott......ah, the potential.

actually our memory is fine for 400dcddr ~ the only problem intel doesnt like right now is that it needs 2.7v to do it. Intel may have to comprimise and raise the 400dcddr spec to 2.6v. something they arent happy about.

:D

Right now with my 1.6a if I had an GB DCDDR mobo I could be running 171fsb for dual 342mhz (+pc2700) with cas 2 timings....Heck my chips can run at 390 cas 2 testing on my epox mobo so I am seeing a future of 4000+ sandra scores and cas 2 timings even if I jump to a c1 2.26ghz p4....I am likely going to get (2)256mb sticks of Corsair pc3200 Cas2.

Intel said that if necessary they can commit resources to the industry. We'll probably see that 2.6vdimm standard real soon. I was surprised to find out that Tiny BGA was not more widespread throughout the memory industry.

i think kingmax really dropped the ball on the tiny bga deal.
even their current ddr is horrible for P4 systems.

tiny bga is doing very well on graphic cards tho.

What's the big deal on raising Vmem .1? I'd imagine that's within tolerances as it is right now... Heck, my 8K3A gives RAM about 2.57V if I set it to 2.5 in the BIOS...

I can attest to that, Thugs. I have a 256 MB stick that won't go past 180 Mhz, even with 2.5,3,3,7 settings:disgust:.

No big deal Raynor. It's just that even a miniscule .10 volt raises the heat noticably. If you have good ram, that won't pose much problem. You see mostly good ram in these forums because the majority of the people here are somewhat knowledgeable and are keen to that. But in reality the majority of ram floating around the industry is oem or "generic" and of questionable quality. You won't see Dell or HP putting top quality Corsair or Mushkin into their computers unless it's some type of special order. It's just not cost effective.
