You asked for a direct answer, in my opinion, a Malay has a better chance of hitting 2.4gig. (no scientific reason, just been watching the posts which are mostly about Malays, and watching overclockers.com database). I can't go past 16x140 @ 1.65v, or 2.240gig with my CR, but too many variables in MB, ram, ps, etc. to give you a definite answer like we could with 300a's, from way back when.
joe, I just got mine in from googlegear this week. So far, I haven't seen one from googlegear that is not Malay. (No guarantees from me, though.)

I can't think of a reason not to get a malaysian 1.6a, except price. Atacom has malaysians for $165- 10 bucks more than their regular price for the retail chip. They will also sell a 1.6a pre-tested to do 2.1 for $199. That sounds like a waste of money to me- they all do 2.1.

I have a TH7-II RAID, w/1.6a @ 140mhz so far, with stock hsf. It was a retail box cpu SL668 Costa Rica, A709 I believe? Voltage is at 1.65 listed, but reporting 1.55? I ran 3dMark2001 SE several times without a hitch, 145 seems to be unstable. I need more voltage and a better hsf before I can go farther but I think this chip will. Also, ATI Radeon 8500, 2 60gig IBM 7200rpm drives on RAID 0, 2 Corsair 256meg high density RDRAM chips. Who has a link for the pin mod for the P4's? It's suppose to be good for about .5 volts.

DanTana, Voltage is at 1.65 listed, but reporting 1.55? What are you using to read voltage besides bios? This has never been reported before. I have the same chip, the only thing about our setups that are the same. I can do 140fsb at 1.65v, no higher.
Flatbroke, I set the voltage to 1.65v in the BIOS, but the Hardware Monitor reports 1.55v? At least what I saw then, I will double check when I get home from work.

So I've heard, but some people seem to be getting around that 150FSB mark without a hitch, few are getting much higher, so I'd be surprised if I did.
Story:
I got my 1.6A and P4B266 from googlegear yesterday. I removed the thermal pad with a credit card and some Goof Off, then went over it with Alcohol(it was very clean, shinning even). Wrapped a piece of suran wrap around my finger, put a pile of AS3 on the HS and rubbed it in real well. Wiped over the HS with a clean towel. I wiped off the top of the heat spreader with alcohol also. I put a little pile of AS3 on the heat spreader and spread it around with the edge of a credit card till it was totaly covered and even thickness. Put the HS down onto the CPU and latched it down. Retail HSF by the way.
Does that sound like the correct process to you guys? The last few PCs I've buit, I bought the mobo and cpu as a combo and they came pre-installed, so this was a first for me. The latches on the HS were pretty stiff to push to lock, but it looked like everything was in place. I held the mobo up and looked at it from the end, and the PCB had actually bent a tiny bit from the HSF pressure on the CPU. Is that normal? I just have to wonder if maybe I did something wrong, cause MBM5 reports 23C Mobo, BUT 42C idle @ 2.13G and 1.5V. Asus PC Probe won't come off of 40C. Using Sandra 2002 Pro's burn-in, I ran the CPU, Multi Media CPU, and Mem benchmarks 5 loops and ended up at 24C/48C. Should I take the HSF off and reinstall? Maybe use more AS3 on the CPU this time?

Nate420 - You did the AS3 correctly.
The P4b266 temp thing is normal also. The Asus Probe is stuck on 40C all the time. MBM5 has two possible sensors to use for the CPU temp. The one called "Asus 2" reads about 10-14C LOWER than the one called "Asus 2 (CUSL2)". I really don't know which one is right. I've thrown this topic out in about 5 different forums and haven't got a satisfactory answer from anyone yet. My idle temps (1.8A running at 2.25Ghz, P4b266, ASII, Retail HSF, Antec SX1040) are inthe low 40C range using the "CUSL2" sensor and it the high 20's using the "Asus 2" sensor. I wouldn't worry about redoing your HSF install, I think it's just fine.
It's also very normal for the retail HSF to bend the Mobo. If you look at the directions that are in the Intel CPU/HSF box you'll see that they talk about it. There's even pictures (in pdf) on the Intel website showing a bent Mobo from the side. Again, don't worry about this either, it's perfectly normal.

Thanks Ralf, I was kinda sweatin the mobo bending I'm glad to hear that my temp are normal too, and I'd like to think that MBM5 is a little high on the CUSL2 readings. I mean, 40~42C is pretty high for idle, don't ya think. I ran some more loops of sandra, but this time I let it run for about 25-30 mins, and the highest MBM5 showed was 48C. I then clocked back down to 1.6 and did the same thing all over again, and the temp still got up to 47C, so I went upto 140fsb(2.24ghz - 1.5V) and the temps are the same, and totaly stable thus far Funny that 3rd party monitoring apps work better than the manufacturer's apps. Even my BIOS monitoring is stuck at 40C. I hope we get another BIOS update soon that fixes the temp issues, or just an updated MBM would be fine too.
