northern accents are downright sexay

Yeah, the "aboot" and "eh" are primarily Canadian. I live in North Dakota and about an hour away from the Canadian border and there is a distinct difference between the two accents. Of course I don't have an accent...😉

Growing up in the South I've heard every version of southern accent imaginable (some are sexy, some are subdued, and some are just flat out redneck) so I don't notice it much anymore except in extreme cases of the latter. But some of of my friends and cousins from Colorado and Montana apparently loved how the girls talked whenever they come to visit.

My favorite north american accent on girls lately is the one that a lot of native Hawaiian girls apparently have. I do consulting work for a site design firm out there and pretty much their whole company is made up of girls. I don't know why it is (maybe I'm just picturing a beautiful, tan island girl on the other end) but I love talking to them.

My all-time favorite accent though is still an English or Austalian accent. Probably 90% of the girls I've met from the latter have all been smoking hot which helps that one out some.

You know, I've lived in Canada half my life now, and I have yet to hear a person say "aboot". Where do you americans get that idea from anyway?

I had a conversation with a help desk chick once. I noticed she said "aboot" and I quickly asked if they were located in Canada. She had a good chuckle about that one. I couldn't tell if she took offense to me just asking it though because she remained very professional-sounding.

Good job for you on exchanging IM names. 😉

What about "ootside" ? Watch a hockey game (even US games have Canadian broadcasters)... and you'll notice. 😉

If you're planning to pick up the accent here, "you guys" are "hella" crazy. There is no accent to be picked up here.

My wife had a lady working with her, who was from Mexico. Her mother was watching TV in Mexico, and told her daughter over the phone, that a guy on the news was from the area where my wife and her daughter work based on his accent. Sure enough the guy was from Cleveland. I can't hear any accent either, but I guess there is one. My wife's co-worker laughed when she heard that I didn't think we had any accent. She said we drop the last 'g' from words ending in 'ing', for example.

I had to go to speech class when I was very young, because I would say 'dis & dat' instead of this & that, so I guess there's a Brooklyn speech taint running through here.
