I'm having sound problems with my Asus A7N8X Deluxe mobo. I put my Fluke 53 Themometer on the northbridge heatsink and its reading 32.3c its pretty warm to the touch could this temp be causing my sound problems?

My A7N8X northbridge runs at around 35 degrees when idle, and it's fine so dont worry about it.

As soon as the northbridge on my 8RDA+ hits about 36c, the LAN dies. And the sound turns to crackle at lower a lower temp than that. I'm moving the stock nb hs to the southbridge and replacing it with a Thermaltake "crystal orb" on it Monday, hoping it will do the job.

What kind of sound problems are you having? Do you hear intermittent crackling or distortion? If so, make sure the speakers or headphones you are using are not low impedence. I have a pair of sony headphones that are extremely easy to drive and they get horrible crackling if i plug them into my a7n8x deluxe. If crackling or intermittent distortion is not the problem, then i don't know what it could be. The northdridge does get extrememly hot on this moboard though.

It sounds like digital sound breaking up, lots of crackling and very distorted sound. I tried changing all kinds of settings without any luck, I finally gave up on the nForce sound and just put back my old Santa Cruz card for the time being. Hopefully I'll figure out whats causing this sooner or later.

The Soundstorm works fine, then will suddenly turn to crap. Crackling and voids, not to mention everything on the system slowing and pausing. Only fix is to shutdown to complete power off and restart. And the LAN will just stop working, but will resume working (unlike the sound) once I've cooled off the northbridge chip a few degrees.

I put my old Soundbastard Live in and disabled the on-board sound it happens so often.
