Hi all.

My Abit IC7-g northbridge fan is making lots of noise so I unplugged it and currently plugged in side window case fan blowing cool air on the northbridge HS.
What would be a good suggestion replacement for a passive heatsink that won't interfere or have clearance since I have thermalright SP-90 heatpipe HS with a 92MM vantec tornado on the CPU?

Zalman makes a fanless NB solution, never heard of an issue while using it. If you are overclocking some insane amount, you may need additional cooling on it.

I am recommending the ZM-NB47J.

Seems like the blue zalman nb is popular.

I'm not sure about putting oil. Fan/HS is intact. All i did was unplug it from the mobo.

UPDATE:

so I got the blue zalman NB47J. found out the package comes with clips for athlon boards. did the wire hook mod to install on my P4 abit board.

with this new NB cooler, I can't get my 2.8C stable to 3.5 anymore. The most stable I can get is 3.2 stock volt or 3.3 with +0.03 vcore.

bottomline: at least I don't have the annoying whirring squeal from that stock NB fan that may have only pushed 2-3CFM....so I'm happy and not going deaf.

I put a 40mm on my nb47j blowing from south towards my cpu's Artic Cooler 64... noisiest fan in my current system is the 2xAntec 120mm..:(

You could have just unplugged the stock fan and left it alone. My IS7 has been running passive for nearly 2 years without any problems.

with the airflow from the side window on the NB, the Zalman should cool better than the stock, and much quieter. You should have gotten the newly released ZM-NBF47, which is the same thing, but much higher surface area for better heat absorption/dissipation using Zalman's signature flower design.
