North Korea successfully test launches an ICBM capable of reaching Alaska

forgot to add Trump's response tweet to this launch...

"North Korea has just launched another missile. Does this guy have anything better to do with his life? Hard to believe that South Korea and Japan will put up with this much longer. Perhaps China will put a heavy move on North Korea and end this nonsense once and for all!"

Whatever Putin and Trump discuss it's pretty sure that this will be part of it. China and most of Russia are in striking distance now and neither of those nations would be happy about this.

The little prick is forcing our hand now. The sanest thing to do is lean hard on China and screw around with their economy if they don't come down on Li'l Kim; I'm just worried Trump will declare outright war and within 2 days of that 10 million people in Seoul become an army of vengeful spirits...

Missile is only one part of the system. They need a functional re-entry vehicle and nuclear payloads small enough to fit inside the re-entry vehicle.

This is all just grand standing to try and ward off an attack. I don't even fault some of these more dysfunctional nations pursuit of nuclear weapons, with Kim Jung it is a real concern because he's insane. In more stable hands it is a good way to keep from being invaded. If Iraq really had been in possession of nukes, they would not have been invaded. It's generally wanted as a security system to ward off regime change by other nations trying to stage take overs.

Yawn. DPRK boogieman, again & forever. Be Afraid. Vote Republican. Buy more guns. That is all.

this isn't a Democrat/Republican issue and has nothing to do with guns. instead of ignoring NKs advancements, would you mind actually commenting on them?

I hope it didn't distract our Twitterer-in-Chief from his golf game.

We all know there's only one way to solve this:

Send in Jared Kushner.

That would be the part where I yawned. They're trying to make themselves invasion proof with a nuclear deterrent. They are in no way stupid enough to instigate serious hostilities let alone resort to that. They'd be obliterated in less than an hour & they know it.

ok, so you trust Kim Jong Un not to do anything crazy. do you also trust Trump to not to do anything crazy?

It's sad to have to say it but I trust Kim more. He'd be betting the farm. Not so for the Donald. Trump really doesn't give a flying fuck how many Koreans get killed so long as he's winning.

LOL.What did I tell you guys.

AND That DPRK troll account on twitter has some good posts.

I believe I already stated my points about Kim and his capabilities. Certain posters will continue to eat crow on this issue and thus, leave it alone. It's good for them. They know not why they are wrong, and must be forgiven for their ignorance. I don't hold it against them.

It is one thing to shoot off a missile. It is another thing to make land exactly where you want it.
Their multitude of launches this year have also included targeting tests. Now take it with a grain of salt but they claim to have been able to target within 23 feet on one of those tests. Of course it's NK so they could have missed by 50 miles. We were also told they were years from having the capability to strike anywhere within the US too.

After watching Iraq get invaded under incredibly transparent false pretenses, I couldn't blame any country for wanting a deterrent.

It seems likely that if nothing else, NK wants to survive, and wouldn't be so foolish to actually launch something at us.

I'm sure that our beefed-up, drained-swamp State dept we can engage in some sharp, incisive diplomacy.

Can't help but believe Trump's rhetoric has accelerated NK to the point they are at. They knew before no one would touch them because of the fact that 25MM people are within range of their artillery in SK. With increased ballistic capabilities none of their neighbors are safe should someone strike.

As of now there is no military solution that isn't filled with unthinkable results. Diplomacy is the only option to deal with NK.

Redacted to appease the natives.😀

New comment: Just send cheese to plug things up.😱😛

What's interesting about that graphic and calculation, is that it ends with the purported range of this rocket as 4,160 miles. That is 400 miles short of Hawaii.

If the rocket can go 4160 miles with a given payload, then all the north koreans have to do is make their payload 10% smaller and they'll land right square in pearl harbor if they like. It's also possible this was launched with a larger test payload specifically to reduce range just enough that Americans wouldn't know their sacred Island vacation spot is threatened.

I'm sure there will be more bloviating "patriots" in here to make fun of how fat Jong Un is or how weird their whole insane country is, but they have little to say about a country of 20 million that appears more advanced than most european space-faring nations in terms of rocket and nuclear tech.

I'm waiting for a Trump speech saying that they're going to build a fantastic wall between NK and SK that will solve this problem and that he's going to make the north pay for it. Oh wait, we've already heard one like that haven't we?😱😀
