I can't get my 1.2ghz avia Y past 1420-1430mhz w/o a step up in the vcore. However if I do this, my 5v rails drop a lot and I experience instability in that area. Tough!!!

Is it normal to have to raise the vcore to get past 1.42ghz? Damn antec PSU...I wish i had a 400watt.

U have to...unfortunately. O/Cing means CPU is working extra than the rated speed thus more power is needed.

so how come the 1.4ghz chips run at that speed with the same 1.75 vcore? Are they better chips? My AVIA Y seems like a really good chip too, it's weird though, to get it to run at 1428...no vcore increase, to get it to run at 1440...vcore increase needed. How can 10mhz make that much difference?

You've already overclocked it 228 mhz...and now you're asking it for 240 mhz. A raise in the vcore when you're o/c'ing is normal but it's a tough compromise b/w the vcore and the 5 V rail. I'm having the same problems w/ my overclock and the 5V rail.

bump up the vcore...i think your 5v rail will hold okay...if you want more mhz...the vcore is a must...

i get reboots and all these other weird things if I bump the vcore.

I've noticed that I can run 3dmark2001 fine, but prime95 will get some round off errors. WHat is this caused by? Do I need to bump the vcore because of round off erros?

the same thing happens to me at high overclocks... in order to o/c, i have to bump the vcore, but eventually i think you hit the limit of your processor... which from what i gather around the forum can be caused by heat, poor 5v rail voltage, and a host of other things.

i dunno...cuz if I set my ram settings to "normal" instead of "fast" from the epox bios, at 142X10 my round off errors go away. I thought the round off erros had to do with cpu and not ram. I'm really confused.
