Normal to fluctuate 4-5 pounds a day?

Spooner

Lifer
I weigh myself in the morning.
I weigh myself at night.

In the morning, I'm consistantly 4-5 pounds lighter than I am at night. Makes sense because of eating / digestion and whatnot...... but I always thought it was 1-2 pounds.

Is this normal? 😱

I'd prbably be the same if I checked it....I'm pretty active and thus I've got *a lot* of water going in and out of me...

I think that's pretty normal; it seems to happen to me anyway.

My best guess is just water weight, etc.

Naah........ I wouldn't. I'm pretty thin everywhere, except I have a small gut. I attribute this to not eating a lot, but drinking a lot of alcohol. I really should workout I guess 🙁

It's called water weight. You're more hydrated one day than you were the other. You might also have full bowels too.

I do that. I am really thin though. Metabolism I guess, i have always been like that. Even if I eat like 10 hamburgers in 1 day I won't gain any weight.

The scale's inaccurate.

Think about it, this guy is saying he loses 5 pounds by sleeping overnight. Unless he's an NFL lineman, that doesn't sound normal.

It is normal. First of all, unless you have a doctors' style balance scale, it is probby only accurate to 2% or so. Also, water counts for a lot of weight..

When I played soccer in high school, I weighed myself before a game and after I was 7 pounds lighter. One game I was 9 pounds less afterwards.. And I was only about 150lbs at the time.

I weigh a good 8 lbs less when I wake up than when I go to bed...weighed on the same scale. I'll fluctuate anywhere from 152-162...although I was consistent at 162 for awhile but then I took 2 weeks off from lifting and I'm back down to 155. From what I've heard its normal....the thing is if you breath through your mouth at night...you might lose some of it(probably not 5 lbs worth) through loss of moisture. I could see this because I drink an assload of water a day...as in 4-5 cups per meal. The other part is you probably work out...cause everyone I know that does this works out...I personally go 4 days a week. The last thing is I've heard people weigh more when they're loose and relaxed. I've heard from more than a few people that if someone is dead or asleep they're a lot harder to pickup than when they're not. I dont' know how this works but maybe before you go to bed you're more relaxed...and when u wake up you're tense? Beats me....I also notice that when I wake up my abs are more defined than when I go to bed...seems like your stomach condenses when you're asleep or something....
