Normal for HD light not to come on when using a PCI IDE controller?

I'm using a Promise Ultra133TX2 and I've noticed that the hard drive light never lights up except at boot up when the computer is looking for IDE devices connected to the computer. Is this normal? Any way to fix this?

The hard drive LED ports on the motherboard are only connected to the onboard IDE ports. Most expansion cards I believe have pins for you to connect the LED to on the card itself.

That's normal.

There is probably a place on the controller where you can connect the HD led that normally goes to the motherboard HD LED connector. I've never actually bothered to connect it though.

I have that same card. The LED pins are on the edge opposite the installation bracket.
