Selling something for the first time on the FS/FT forum and this guy PMed asking me to ship out the item first. Then he says he will pay me when he gets the item? Im reluctant to do this because I have no guarantee that he will pay me, but Im a little confused cuz he has good heatware.

Is this a normal practice over in the FS/FT forum?

Yea, but a 5 year member with 10k posts speaks volumes as well. But, to the OP, not weird, many follow the higher heatware rule no matter what.

18 Heatware isn't that high. Use your best judgement. You can always ask for 1/2 now 1/2 later.

for the most part the guys on FS/T are reasonable. I'd try to talk him into the 1/2 now 1/2 later thing too.

The beauty of the system in place here is... it's your choice if you will ship first or not. There are no rules over this issue. If you feel he's trustworthy, you can ship first. If you aren't comfortable shipping first, then you don't have to - the only downside is you might lose a potential sale.

There are no etched in stone "rules", but as a newb trader with few references, you won't find too many established traders willing to ship or pay first. if someone has for example 100+ heatware and the other person has <10, usually the person with <10 is expected to either pay first or ship first.

Kind of different in your case...both of you are low. But the item is not very expensive, so it may be more hassle than it's worth to do half + half.

depends on who it is.

there are few i would ship to without thinking twice. a bunch i would talk to first but still ship first.

I have only sold a few things but to me, if you are the seller, you make the rules. As long as you understand this may cost you a potential sale.

Higher Heatware wins or you can say no and hope someone else offers to buy it.
