I wish DVD-ROMs would get cheaper!

Nice post, snagged one

Er.... they can't get much cheaper. You can get a cheapy for less than $30 at Dell.

Where? Their cheapest I see in Dell Home is $39 and it's the same Cendyne I have right now that makes this loud whirring sound when trying to read a CD so no way in hell I'm getting that again 😛

Their next one is $47.56 (Pacific Digital) and then $63.75 (Dell). Yeah, they need to be cheaper...

hrm, the shipping is $9 (!) so that pretty much defeats the rebate anyways... I noticed walmart online also has it for $50 without any rebates....shipping for me was around $6...so I think I might go with that instead...don't like waiting months upon months for rebates.

Edit: bleh, forgot about tax... ends up costing the same as amazon's, sans the rebate. Ah well.

hey i was wondering if this plays mpeg videos?

i got the apex 1200 and burned a cd with mpeg videos on it and it played it, would this do the same? how about vcds and svcds?
