I live not too far from one of the huge radar towers. It looks really cool.. It's really quite bizarre though, b/c they built the thing in the 50's but no one really seemed to know what it was for until a few years ago.

NORAD was a joint project between the US and Canada from its inception.

In the late 50's, the only defense it controlled was a line of radars across the top of Canada and Alaska. I'm wondering if it's expanded to control protection of all of NA now?
