wtf is pepsi throwback

pepsi with regular sugar, instead of HFCS

Negative. Pepsi Throwback is apparently an older formula. The current formula of Pepsi, with regular sugar instead of HFCS, would not taste the way it does. That, and the bottle lists a different ingredient list than the current formula.

And with that said, the Throwback tastes a hell of a lot better than the current Pepsi formula. I won't drink Pepsi unless it's the only thing available. I'd still drink the current HFCS Coke over the Pepsi Throwback, but the Throwback tastes a lot closer to Coke than today's Pepsi. Between the two, I could drink either and not complain. Can taste a difference, but it's an acceptable difference, both are tolerated equally. Current Pepsi, I cannot even tolerate if given a choice.

I want the blue Mountain Dew back. Also...

...bring back SURGE.

I do miss Surge. Original Surge. After Surge was dropped from the lineup, they brought it back, but with less caffeine, not sure if the formula was any different in any other way.

But currently, Vault is a LOT like Surge, though a little more carbonation and with more of a bite. Vault is a worthy successor imho, and I'll gladly take that over no Surge-type drink from Coca Cola. And Vault does have more caffeine than Mtn Dew. Unlike with Coke/Pepsi, I'll take either Mtn Dew or Vault, based on what is available. Have no real preference... both taste great, extremely different, but great nonetheless. I like how Mtn Dew has very little carbonation in comparison to most other pop, but I like the overall flavor anyhow, and yet I also love the flavor and bite of Vault (acidic bite).

I have had plenty of Mexican Coca-Cola made with regular sugar, tastes about the same as the American Coca-Cola made with HFCS to me. Pepsi might be different though, I cannot comment on that since I do not drink it.

I didn't even know Jones made cola, I'd happily get it if I could. All we get here is green apple and the infernal FuFu Berry flavor. Even the name of it is infuriating.

The only HCFS-free option we have around here is Boylans, which is great stuff, except I haven't seen THAT for a few months either, and when they do have it you can only buy it in 4 packs of 20 oz bottles, which costs 7.99 a pack. No thanks.

The Boylan is $3.99 for 4pk at the supermarket here. Though I haven't see the Cola version for months. Just the diet versions of other stuff. Still available for $2 a bottle at lunch places.

To stick to the topic, I haven't even seen Pepsi throwback anywhere here yet. I still have a couple of bottles of Kosher Coke though. :)

I believe they only released throwback in 6 markets.

I bought the last 6 twelve packs in the 4 stores in my area. Should last a few months at the rate I drink pop. =)

Hopefully they'll make it a permanent variant and drop one 90 different diet types.

We never had any around here. I would, however, pay double for Coke/Pepsi made with sugar instead of HFCS. Add another 50% if it's sugar grown in the US.

I was just at Sams Club and they had a pallet stacked high with 12 packs of the cans.

I got two 12 packs myself.

I'm still seeing it all around, maybe that guy was wrong?

walmart had them 4x12 packs for $10. I picked up 4xpepsi and 4xmt dew throwback editions.

it tastes more like coke. and since it is real sugar over hfcs, I'll drink it over coke. It also doesn't leave that slimey feeling in your mouth.

I havent had the pepsi throwback but I had the mt dew and I honestly prefer the mt dew with HFCS. Throwback mt dew has some funky diet taste to it, didnt care for it.

It's soda, get over it! It's not like it's something critical to modern civilization like coffee, tea or, beer.

Yeah, FAIL on Pepsi's part. Normally I hate pepsi, but I would jump at the chance for a non-HFCS cola. It was decent. Seeing as Pepsi will probably not bring this back but every few years, there is only one option for non-HFCS cola for the rest of us: NEBRASKA MUST BURN!!!!

:p

fortunately, our costco regularly carries coke with real sugar instead of HFCS... tastes great.

Passover and/or Mexican coke? Believe me, I've tried to find it around here. No luck. :(

Last I checked, there is still an American factory in Texas making Dr. Pepper with sugar.

Also, does RC Cola have HFCS or sugar? It says and/or on the labeling.

Does it really make that much of a difference to you? If someone put a Pepsi in front of you, you wouldn't drink it?

For those like me with a desire for sodas containing pure cane sugar in lieu of HFCS.

http://www.jonessoda.com/files/products-glass.php

It uses 'inverted cane sugar'. I don't really understand why it's "inverted" in the first place.

According to wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invert_sugar
"Inverted sugar syrup can be easily made by adding roughly one gram of citric acid or ascorbic acid, per kilogram of sugar."

OK. It's still REAL sugar and not HFCS.
