my 486 has my only spare CD-rom drive and I need the drive to set up soem other systems. the uptime is almost 32 days. not that this is necessarily impressive for linux... but its the longest I've ever had. ~32 days ago was a power outage. 🙁

oh well.... at least I get to try out some other OSes on the dual ppro 200 i'll be building. probably redhat 7.2 or maybe slack.

i think he needs the drive now. and not like 3 days from now. otherwise he wouldn't be willing to bring that box down. 😛

<< Heh, if you were a real man, you would test the hot-swapability of your ide cdrom 😉 >>

hehe, i borrowed one from a kind friend 🙂. i was seriously considering a hotswap test 😉. i know my computer can withstand the partial removal of my sound card for about .5 seconds.... wihtuot crashing. 😀

That is insain! I could see going after the cdrom though! But I did read on this very forum yesterday that someone blew up his 431 watt PSU tring to hotswap a fan!

trust me, this discovery was unintentional. it happened when my 120mm video card fan decided to try eating my sound card as I switched monitors

. I also have discovered that hotswapping a GFD usually results in a lockup. 😉
