My Viewsonic vp201b just died. This monitor was awesome when it came out in 2004. 20.1" lcd 1600x1200 16ms. I actually have 2 of them wife has the other.

It comes on and fades quickly to all black but shows green led like it still has signal. Same issue when unplugged from computer except led goes amber to show no signal. Tried dvi-d and analog. Tested my video output on the other monitor and it works fine.

Now I'm off to research what the best lcd is today...

RIP VP201B you will be missed.

Sounds like it. Not sure if I want to repair it myself or not. Probably not worth it.

I see some 120hz lcd's that sound good.

Fortunately 20-22" LCD's have come down in prices since then, unfortunately the 4:3 options are limited and the cheaper panels may not have the same color gamut. I'm going to miss my 19" 4:3 when it bites the bullet but it's only 1280x1024.

You could open it up and see if any of the capacitors look like they are bulging/leaking. It doesn't sound like that's the problem, but it's relatively simple to check out and not too hard to repair.

I got a 32inch lcd that has a computer socket .... its awsome running off my pc.

I have three screens the tv lcd and two samsungs 19inch

Oh that sucks. 4:3 LCDs are also hard to come by these days. They push out widescreen now which sucks for anything but watching movies. It's like taking your monitor and cutting a couple inches off the top.
