I have class ...that whole week and teh rest of the two weeks, I dont want to sit around in a court room for some BS case.

Is there a way I can file to not be in Jury Duty because of classes or the fact I NEED those hours that day?

you can line up with the rest of the people to tell them why you can't be there for your duty... Being in college, they will likely excuse you, but you still have to show up in the first place.

Maybe it varies by city or state, but when I was summoned while away at college I just told them I couldn't make it because of that. I didn't have to actually show up. Once I came home for the summer, I was summoned again and served.

Depends, when I was in New Orleans, I just called the number on the notice, gave them juror number on the card they sent me, said "I'm a student" and they said OK, don't show up. The end.

However, now that I live in NYC, there is no way to call them. You can mail back your response (I had to do this the other day since they sent me another notice 2 months after I served ) to which you never get a response :)roll::roll:), but there is no way to talk to a real live person.

Repeat after me:

Honestly, I don't see why the police would arrest anyone if they weren't guilty....

Well the system in my state is stupid anyways. They keep telling to check online and see if the jury date has been moved. Last time I wasted a damn week cause they kept pushing back the date.

Tell them you're a student in minority studies concerned with the oppression of blacks, hispanics, women, gays, communists, leftists, crimminals. Tell them that our crimminal justics system operates under an antiquated and unjust paradigm that you wish to reverse.

Look on your summons information card, there will be a list of disqualifications / excuses for jury duty, as well as a number to call or address to mail. Since you are in class, you have a valid reason for not going to jury duty.

For those who do not want to serve jury duty because it's too boring, you are too lazy, or you have better things to do, you folks are morons. Jury duty is the one thing everyone American can do to give back, and it costs nothing. If it were not for juries, there would be innocent people placed in jail all the time.

Sign up for the Army, that should get you out of it.

I would rather move to CANADA!

plus my sisters in the army, only one per household.

Coward.

Definately not interested in doing your civic duty huh?

You can get out of it since you are in school. I think that people who get out of it just because (who dont have a valid reason to not be there) need to be put in jail for a good 30 days or so.
