my WOW account was due today. usually i use one of those stupid 2 month cards (use my BB points to get it cheaper!).

but i haven't been able to find one for a few weeks and my wow bill is due today.

so i log on and go to use my debit to do it. it says not authorized... OK WTF? not thinking to hard about it i whip out my Paypall card (which is linked to the checking account) and try that. nope not authorized either.

now I'm pissed off.

so i call the bank and question it. they say the Debit card has been compromised and they canceled it and are re-issuing another one.

I though that the Paypall card should work anyway. i called them and they said nope they got a issue saying Debit card was bad so they canceled my paypal card too.

sigh. i should get new ones in a week..

how am i going to pay for my WOW account now?

Link your bank account directly to paypal? It was your debit card that was "compromised", not a direct e-check.

So your bank is doing all this without even contacting you? Awesome Bank! Let me know which one so I can avoid it.

this aint the first time either. i thought it would be good to go to a small local bank over a huge one.

my mistake. this is not the first time they have done soemthing silly. They did something else major a few months ago and it pissed me off.

Not sure why everyone keeps using their debit cards online... What's wrong with a few credit cards..

Totally agree. I have a card with a small limit that I use for those types of transactions. Credit card seems to be the most logical choice, since it is generally much easier to dispute/reverse charges if something goes awry.

Never, ever use your debit card online. Yeah, sure, they tell you you're protected, but try explaining to your creditors why you can't pay your bills after your account has been cleaned out (before the money is restored.) That is one PITA I don't ever want to deal with.

BofA returned my funds within 24 hours before the investigation was ever done.

Still, a credit card is obviously better.
