Noobie question - how much paste?

Hi guys,

I know it a noobie question, but how can I make sure I put enough paste, but not too much? I have an opteron 170 and zalman 9500 cooler with it's paste. This is my first computer I build.

A very thin layer over the heat spreader is all you need. When you squeeze it out it should be the size of a small pea before you spead it out.

I've often heard (and use the rule myself) that the coating should be the thickness of a sheet of paper.
