Hey all,

I've been reading here for quite awhile now and I finally got the itch (and the nerve) to

build my new machine. Got every thing put together but I am having trouble getting XP

installed.I got a Intel 965 board , C2d 6300. 2 gig Kingston 1.8v ram Samsung

writemaster optical drive. The thing will post and I can get into the bios and everything

shows up correctly, but I keep getting PXE-E61 media test failure Insert disk, when I put

xp disk in. Do I need something else to get this up and running? Any help would be greatly

appreciated. I'm sure I have no clue as to what I'm doing, but I'm having fun doin it. Sorry

about the goof on my first post. Thanks In advance.

Thats What I am trying, but it tells me there is no bootable drive. I have rechecked all connection several times.

I'd Google "PXE-E61 media test failure Insert disk" and see what comes up. You'd be surprised how many error messages are things other people have experienced too and then posted solutions or suggestions about on some Web site.

You don't mention a hard drive in your original post, BTW. Not to insult your intelligence, but you do have a hard drive installed & hooked up, right?

Good luck.

Well I got it figured out with help from you guys.

I had to disable the lan in bios. You get the error mesage PXE-E61 Media test failure

when bios tries to boot from the network, even though I had disabled Thought I would

post so if someone else has the same issue with Intel board. By the way is core temp a

good proggy for temp readings? I installed it and it show core 0 @ 39 and core 1 @ 41.

That is completely stock settings (not that I can overclock this board). I just wanted to

make sure I got the heatsink seated properly. Do those temps sound about right?
