Noobie guide to installings windows xp on my MacBook pro

That model NEVER had Windows XP drivers. You will not be able to get full driver support from Apple.

It's MBP 15" Mid 2010. As far as I know, that model still runs Snow Leopard, so it should still have XP drivers. But correct me if I'm wrong.

In any case, here's the official Bootcamp guide from Apple:

And it specifically states that Bootcamp drivers are on the OSX installation disc. It's the only place to get those drivers as far as I know. Bootcamp 4.0 in Lion has a way to download drivers, but it doesn't support XP.

I'm running SL and my iMac does not support XP. I did not realize this until after I installed XP onto a partition and could not install wireless drivers.

Technically, you can manually go into each unsupported piece that shows up in Device Manager and manually look for the drivers by reading the device_id and vendor_id off of them.

In some cases, modifications have to be done to official drivers because they don't support a certain sub device_id, but once that's over with, it should still work just fine. Just because Apple chooses not to provide drivers for Windows XP anymore doesn't mean it doesn't support XP.

At the end of the day, a Mac running Bootcamp exposes its hardwares much like a regular PC.

On a side note, the OP mentioned MacBook Pro 6,2 (Mid 2010), which as far as I know, does support XP...

I have a quick couple fixes for you. You don't need bootcamp, windows drivers or anything. Just use Virtualbox. I'm guessing you don't need bare-metal windows - it seems like its just for a couple programs.

Don't know if it's the case here or not but my kid in law school has a testing program for finals that will not work on any virtualization software, has to be Windows in Bootcamp.

Follow this guide and you can even insert your winxp key and activate if you care.

As an aside I'm sorry that for whatever reason you are going to ITT Tech. I just hope you aren't using your own money. Why didn't you go to Palm Beach State? (PBCC?)

installed bootcamp, got all drivers and now have a working windows xp on my MBP,
ofcourse it sucks ,therefor i'll only use it when i have to,for school etc.

got the drivers from the mac osx "everything else" cd (2?)thanks for the hint, if i knew how to take a screenshot on this keyboard in using windows i would!
