I think Apple stopped supporting XP and Vista installs. As in you can't install it but if you have it on there it'll still work.

Use VirtualBox unless you need native performance

For native performance:

1) Spotlight search "Boot Camp Assistant" on your Mac.
2) Install.
3) When booting up, hold "Option" key to select between Mac OS X or Windows.

which macbook pro do you have? if its a 2010 model or below, you can natively run windows xp using boot camp. if you have a 2011 model, you can only natively run windows 7.

however, if you just want to virtualize windows xp, then either virtualbox, parallels, or vmware will do the trick. snow leopard and lion are both supported.

OSX 10.7 Boot Camp only supports Win 7. For XP, you have to use a virtualized solution (i.e. Parallels, VMWare Fusion, etc.).

You cannot use XP with BootCamp on modern macs. What do you need XP for exactly?

Apple no longer support Windows XP.

Again, what do you need XP for exactly? You said for school right? What are you doing with it? Your problems could have been solved if you would use virtualization.

Are you on older version of Mac OS (older than Lion)? Sounds like it cause it allowed you to install WinXP using bootcamp utility?

Installing WinXp maybe easy, but installing drivers is a WHOLE ANOTHA task. :ninja: How old is your Macbook? You'll need to find out what chipset your motherboard is using for the graphics, audio, network, etc. You'll then need to go to the manufacturer site for each of those and download manually. I was able to get the Intel chipset, graphics, and sound driver for Server 2003. But the wireless driver install gone haywire on me.. and ethernet driver I could not find. You can get a wireless USB dongle though instead. I have some other issues that need to be worked out. Too many problems so I went back to OS X Lion for now.:$

Search for "Bootcamp drivers 3.0" on Google. I'm fairly certain that it includes XP support.

Or as suggested, just pop your Mac install disc in and it should have drivers for you.

Don't know if it's the case here or not but my kid in law school has a testing program for finals that will not work on any virtualization software, has to be Windows in Bootcamp.

That model NEVER had Windows XP drivers. You will not be able to get full driver support from Apple.
