Noob video card driver question of the day!

So at the moment I am using the 8.12 ATI drivers with my 4830. Is there any real advantages updating my video driver?

I primarily play Vavle's catalog of games, Battlefield, NBA 2K9 and CoH.

Also, is driver cleaner necessary in today's Windows Vista?

There are benefits to updating your drivers each month- this is outlined in the release notes for the driver. Driver Cleaner (or Driversweeper) is not really necessary unless you are having problems, then it is the first thing you do.
