I am new to the HTPC scene and am feeling my way through building one. I finally got the computer the way I wanted it and Windows XP Media Center to act the way I wanted it but now I have a BIG problem......it simply WILL NOT display on my dad's new 56" JVC HDTV. It won't work using the VGA hookup or through HDMI. I know the computer is fine because it works perfectly hooked up to my friend's Mitsubishi 65" TV through both the DVI and HDMI interfaces.

I think my problem is the GeForce 4 4200 I am using as it seems to auto detect the monitor and adjust the resolution accordingly. It seems that the JVC TV is somehow messing up the video card's ability to set the resolution. The big problem is I cannot force the video card to the resolution I want it seems. I had set the screen resolution to 1024x768 hooked up to a monitor and the minute I plugged the computer in to my friend's Mistubishi it automatically set the resolution to 1920x1080. I think this may be the problem.

Now for my question. Is there a video card that has a DVI output that will allow me to manually set the resolution and not try to change it by auto detecting the monitor/TV? I do not need a great video card for this HTPC since it is only going to be used for pictures, music, and playing DVDs.

Thanks for the info but all those are high end cards for my purpose. I am not playing games or doing video capture on this rig as it is for my 69 year old dad. Like I already said, the GeForce 4 I have in the machine works fine on other TVs just not my dad's new JVC. I simply need a card that will stay set to a resolution and not try and auto detect the signal from the monitor/TV. Thanks.
