NOOB RAID card issues

I am getting very slow RAID0 performance with this LSI card (MegaRAID 344ELP). A pair of vertex (with 1275 BIOS) ran 500 MB/sec with the onboard raid run at 150 MB/SEC on this card. When I added a third SSD there was no change in performance. I even upgraded the firmware (to the new one with the TRIM command) still no change in results.

Is there something limiting the speed?

That host is too old for SSD's and its firmware is not optimized for the quick response of a SSD. Even if the hardware is capable I'd doubt that LSI will have a new firmware available for SSD's given the product line age.
