NOOB question

My old comp has an Athlon XP 2400+ ... I'd like to replace the motherboard, but don't have any ideas where to start ... could someone throw out some suggestions please? THANKS!

Just curious but why do you want to replace the motherboard? Do you have something specific you want to change or add?

mobo is messed up ...

i have major computer problems with that computer ... reboots of its own accord every 30 minutes or so, even when nth is running ... and when i try to do ANYTHING with it, it dies ... e.g. tried to watch a video yesterday and it played for abt 2 minutes before it just died and rebooted ... and it reboots while booting up ... ridiculous.

i think it's a prob with the mobo b/c randomly one day it rebooted and then said that i had new hardware (i hadn't installed anything) and it no longer recognizes the ethernet ... i've tried reinstalling the drivers, but nth.

What would be a good way to test my processor?

Well, about the only way to test the cpu is in a different motherboard, which leaves you back where you started. I'd spend some time to be sure it's not, heat, memory, video or drivers before buying another motherboard.
