My psu goes at the top of my tower, so..should the fan at the top of the PSU be facing the ceiling of the tower, or should it face down towards the mobo and the rest of the equipment?

If heat rises, then why would you want to push that hot air back into your rig? Not to mention all the dust that would get sucked in from the outside?

How would mounting the PSU upsidedown do that.

(fan down is the right way, Dumac)

The fac sucks air out. And the fan points down. Plus some of the screw holes might not line up right if you put it upside down. FAN DOWN=RIGHT (just do it and stop making yourself look stupid).

Now to add to that, my case mounts the PSU sideways with the fan facing the window on the side. This is only because MY case does that. That is THE ONLY way you wouldn't mount it with the fan down.

Thats just a picture man. It has nothing to do with the way it goes in. Fan pointing down, thats the rule.

Fan points towards cpu and sometimes has an exhaust fan pointing out the back of case as well (in dual fan setups). It's meant to suck hot air up and out of the case.

Hi, Since PSU screw holes are not laid out symetrically it should be obvious which way it goes. I don't have any that would be pointing up, but anything is possible. And - you don't cool things by blowing on them even though it might help a little. You cool things by moving the air through the case as rapidly as possible. Best is to have about 1/2 the fans blowing out and half blowing in, including the PSU fan. Hope this helps a little, Jim

Since the powersupply sits at the top of the case where would it blow or suck to or from if the fan was pointed up????
