Noob Question -- Would Nvidia fit on Asus Motherboard

I am plaining on going for the below mentioned rig for gaming.

Chip/Processor :- AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor - $245.00(newegg)

Mobo :- ASUS M4A79T Deluxe AM3 DDR3 AMD 790FX ATX AMD Motherboard - $189.99(newegg)

Graphics Card :- ATI Radeon HD 4890 vs GeForce GTX 275

i want to know which i should get. Also if someone could suggest the make (safire/evga,etc)

All the reviews say that i should get the GeForce GTX 275 however my next question is going to make you fall of the chair.

If you are spending nearly $250 on a processor and $200 on a motherboard why not build an i7 system?
Seems like common sense to me.
 
I think what you need to worry about more than the motherboard itself, is the case it will be in.
These cards are rather long and take up two slots. They also require a power connector connected directly to the videocard.
You need to make sure that the card will physically fit into the case (I've had cases where the harddisk bay had to be removed in order to fit the card in, and with one Dell case, I had to remove part of the plastic support structure, because it was in the way of where the power connector would be).
You also have to make sure that your power supply can provide enough power to the card (these cards may draw up to 200W or more, and that's the card alone, so getting a PSU of 550W or more is recommended, to prevent the PSU from overheating and failing, and making your system unstable or even damage your components).
