noob question about storage

i wanted some type of external storage system to house data (and lots of it).

would this fit my needs?

its for a single pc, so im wondering if there are other solutions, as i see this one is probably used for network setups. thanks.

NAS devices would connect to your network via CAT5 or Fibre. It's possible you could just use a cross-over cable if you didn't have a network. You could also do a SCSI array, fibre array, even external SATA.

what type of files are you trying to store?

big raw photos, files for video editing. i am not sure if that is relevant. anyhow, i was looking to spend under $1000 for the setup, so i may go with the buffalotech 1TB array. thanks for the input MustISO. i'll see about using that crossover cable by emailing buffalotech.
