You can look up any 990's for any non-profit on guidestar.org.
I underwrite non-profit D&O. One of the criteria I analyze is the overall salary paid by the entity. $85K for the director is not that bad. I've seen lower and I have seen a lot higher.
You can sign up for a free account at guidestar (haven't received any spam mail from them in the 6+ years I have used it). Under the advanced search you can look by state, category, etc if you want to do a comparison of similar charities in a geographical area.
Salaries are line 15 on the first page of the 990.
Part VII will have the compensation for the D&O's, key employees and highest compensated employees. It will also list the average hours a week of work.
