Nondestructive Repartitoning in Windows Me?

Anyone know how this can be done? Partiton Magic doesnt work with Windows ME yet, and I want to dual boot with win2k, but when I formatted I made one big partiton.

Get a Win98 boot disk and run Partition Magic from DOS.

How do you run PM from dos?

Ranish is non-destructive (unless you make a mistake). I have not tried it in win ME but it works with a win98 boot disk in both 98 and 2000.

In win98 it "suggests" that I reboot to dos, in 2000 it is required. My guess is that you will be required to reboot to dos in winME.

Hey, SUOrangeman, Thanks for the tip. I figured out how to install the DOS version, booted from a 98 boot disk, and partitioned Time to Install Win2k.

You have to create the DOS P/M disks from a working copy of P/M. It is a normal part of the install routine. Suggest doing that on another machine, then use those disks on your system. It is a bootable diskette that P/M makes.

But, PowerQuest is hard at work on a patch to make P/M 5 work in ME. They are aware of the problem. It centers around the immovable files created by ME as part of the SYSTEM RESTORE function.
