Done a few searches but getting a bunch of overpriced crap.

I need this for a 62" Tv that weighs around 150 lbs... so it doesnt need to be extremely expensive.

Im not sure why, but i guess mostly well off people buy 62" DLP tv's so everywhere tries to charge a ton for them. Im just looking for a basic stand maybe 2 feet high with a spot for a receiver and a DVD player and maybe some side shelves.

If I cant find something decent for $200 or under I might just build one from wood and paint it black. (though I dont have the equipment for that right now :)

Stands are expensive most everywhere.

Yeah those stands are definitely up there in cost as well.

You take the same amount of wood and make it into an entertainment center for a 30 inch tv, with shelves and cabinets, and its $100, make it into a stand for a big tv and its suddenly 400 or more

Yep, it sucks but what can you do when you have no woodworking skills and want something that looks decent.

seriously dude, it aint difficult.....

draw a diagram of how you want it to look, then work out with a little math how much surface area you need so you can buy teh appropriate amount of MDF, then buy some nice laminate to use to cover the MDF or some paint and varnish and get a good blade on your hacksaw (junior hacksaw works very nice on mdf, takes a little longer, but leaves less roughness to file down)........then get some of those plug and screw type joins, some decent wood glue and two part expoxy, then get a building!....heh

shouldnt take more than a 4 hours if you do a proper job on it....

then sit back, and watch ya TV hit the floor....LOL

(actually, might be worth buying a few simple brackets as well just in case...heh)

just spend the $$ on a TV stand, think of it as an investment. plus, if you get a matching TV stand, it looks 100x better for your TV than if you get a generic one. don't you want your nice tv on a nice stand, rather than a nice tv on a crappy stand?

My TV + Stand.

Sure you can make one that fits PERFECTLY to what you want it to, but then again you will just need the time and effort to do so, and the parts. I would just suck it up and get the matching TV stand. My friend just got the matching TV stand for his 60"+ toshiba DLP and it looks awesome compared to what he had previously.
