Nomar to White Sox for Magglio Ordonez?!

Damm..Im a huge Angels fan and the bad news is they prolly wont get him but the good news is he wont go to LA. So Anaheim can take that town over.

Makes sense, they need to dump Nomar when they add A-Rod on. It's funny, people talked all day up and down about how the Yankees buy championships when the Yanks beat the Red Sox in Game 7. How is this any different? They're trying to wheel and deal to get the "best" team possible. No more lamer than the Yankees.

Has Boston spent anymore than last year? Is their cap at 180 mil? Didn't think so.

I don't think nomar is staying in chicago. It is a 3 team deal where sox will send him to dodgers for prospects and a pitcher.

That is a stupid argument. Every team tries to get the most value for their dollar. If the players are unhappy then obviously management will try to do whatever they can to get somebody who will be happy to play here.

That would be interesting.

I know with Nomar and Manny gone, they need another outfielder, I heard that the Sox would trade Nomar to LA, and then
turn around and trade those players to fill that spot, or 2nd base.

Chicago was interesting in trading Magglio to LA, they might figure Nomar might bring them more.
Or they could just keep him. Personally I would prefer Nomar in LA.
I think it will be very interesting on what happens because of the A-Rod - Manny deal. Everyone in baseball
seems to be waiting to see what to do if it happens or if it doesn't.

Manny and Nomar were not unhappy. Nomar never smiles but he wants to, wanted to, stay in Boston. The only one that could truly be said to be unhappy was A-Rod and his little feud with Showalter. Earth to A-Rod, shortstops should not call pitches. You are making $25 million a year, you knew the Rangers were what they were when you got there.

How is trading for guys the same as "buying championships"? And every team that makes a trade are "no lamer than the Yankees"?

😕

Manny was not unhappy, but when you play baseball in Boston, its probably not a good idea, to say you want to finish your career in NY.
Not to mention when it comes to Manny, he is a great hitter, but his work ethic left alot to be desired. Manny can do things to make you
love him one day, and the next you think, what is up with this guy. Not running balls out to first, I'm sick, but I can still hang out with friends.

And Nomar, well I do like Nomar. He was happy in boston (or so he is saying now, contract negoations and all). However he wants a Jeter
like deal. And the Red Sox aren't going to give it to him. They offered 15 million a year, and he refused, and now that offer is gone. So why not
trade him if they aren't going to be able to keep him next year. If he wanted to stay a Red Sox he would have taken the 15 million a year.

A-Rod, ya his ego is huge. And I am frankly not sure if he will handle big time baseball. Baseball fans in NY and Boston are unlike any.
They might love you when your doing well, but they'll turn on you just as quick. And if A-Rod and his 25 million go into a slump in Boston
the fans will let him know, unlike anything he has ever dealt with. Worse, these are home team fans. But time will tell

Manny can hit, no one can ever say otherwise, but he has some issues going on upstairs.

Nomar is super surly but he always shows up to play. He did want to stay with the Sox, just wanted more money and felt that he should get more. It's not a matter of wanting to stay and saying that someone who turns down a contract is someone who just did not want to be there, that's not the case. He felt that he was worth more and should have gotten more. I happen to agree with him to a point. He gave the Red Sox the hometown discount and has been underpaid for a long while, what's wrong with asking for more? Of course, you have to also understand that there is a point where the owners figure it's just not worth it to keep a player. Personally, Nomar can take his 1,000 and one twitches and take a hike.

A-Rod is the best player in baseball but is also another headcase.

None of these guys come without some baggage but, man, can they hit!

Where are you reading this?

Boston Globe

Quote from article
The sources said another possibility is a three-way deal in which the Red Sox would acquire Ordonez, Garciaparra would go to the Dodgers, and the White Sox would receive pitcher Odalis Perez and prospects, one of which they would flip to the Red Sox, to be packaged with Manny Ramirez in the Rodriguez deal. Red Sox reliever Scott Williamson also could go to Chicago as part of the deal.

Manny's work ethic is actually exceptional, I read that he's usually the first one at the park for BP before every game, usually an hour earlier than everyone else. It's really Manny's attitude that sucks, he is absent minded and has a pebble for a brain. Forgetting how many outs when probably 85% of the stadium knows is pathetic, as is not running out ground balls. Not being able to pinch hit b/c of a SORE THROAT is ridiculous. You can do that in little league but not when you're making 20 million/yr!

Nomar bleeds Boston red, I think his idiotic agent convinced him he could get Jeter $$$ last spring when the 15 mil/yr was offered. And you know what, he probably could (now that Tejada's deal has set the precedent). It's just unfortunate that the Sox can't afford him. I wish nothing but the best for Nomar, he is a class act, phenomenal shortstop and will go down in history in the same breath as Yaz and the Splendid Splinter (Ted Williams).

Arod - probably will end up as the greatest ballplayer of our generation. I look forward to a new era of greatness in Boston! To quote what I heard on the radio today"Barry Bonds the best player in baseball? No way he could ever play shortstop!"

Man, the White Sox are letting their entire team go. First they lose Carl Everett and THREE of their best pitchers, now they want to trade the franchise player away? Looks like I may have to become a Cubs fan

.

My conclusion about nomar being unhappy was drawn from his decision to not take the 15mil/yr deal. God know what his agent promised him.

Manny on the other hand is freakin Pus.

Can't believe we are all here still talking about baseball, the start of the next season is more than four months away. Man, it really is true, the baseball season never ends!

Sorry ya, its not Manny work ethic. its his attitude, I wasn't thinking, I didn't mean work ethic I meant attitude. Hell, he probably
wouldn't be as good a hitter if he didn't have a good work ethic.

I too wish that the Sox would have been able to keep Nomar. And your right its probably Nomar's agent that should take the
most blame. Agents just seem to ruin this sport. I hoped to one day see Nomar's number in right field. But it looks like that
one happen. Which is why I prefer to see Nomar in LA, because I would not like to have to rout against Nomar. He is a class
act. And I think Boston will miss Nomar more than any other player they have lost in a long time. Definately more than
when Clemens left.

I'm just glad we dumped manuel. It would be nice to pick up some pitching too.

If this happens, I'm going out to buy a Garciaparra jersey immediately. He's one of my favorite ball players.

GO BLUE!

Look out Yankees.
And a decent closure. Of course this is the Red Sox we are talking about and they will find a way to lose in the end, they always do.
