NOLF2: so damn good, so horrible. -=Nevermind, fixed already=-

ok, i just finished Morrowind (the longest game in history!) and Icewind Dale II, so i need a new game for this holiday season. I choose NOLF2 becaus of it has received great reviews and a title of 'action game of the year'.

after installing it... well, it froze my system -_- i need a couple of restarts until i figured that I have to turn off the 'shadows' options under performance page. Then i got another problem, i am not getting the speeches and music, only footsteps, environments and gunshots.

Then when i read the reame file, omg... this game has serious problems with ALL major graphic cards and sound cards. WTF?! I tried uninstall/reinstall/remove my drivers, codecs, WMP, directX, patching, etc. No Result.

so please, anyone know how to correct this?
Until then, i think I'll just put NOLF2 on my CD rack and borrow my friend's TES3: Tribunal for this holiday.

EDITED: ok, it's fine now, I dual-boot my machine with Win98 and it goes well. period. bleh.. truly, i love it

NOLF2 ran fine for me but I know of a couple people that had so many problems they had to send it back to Sierra. However, Sierra is really good about working with customers. They'd probably exchange it for another title of equal value. If all else fails, try that.

I don't know what to say. NOLF2 ran perfectly on my system (1024x768, all details 'high' and a touch of AA). Mines a Tualatin Celeron @1.5Ghz and an ATI Radeon 8500 128MB.

I still use Win98SE. Have you tried installing it on that partition (not XP)?

NOLF2 works just fine on my system (see the specs below) and I just finished it yesterday, though I didn't use shadows. The only problem I had was an extreme slowdown in one section of the game which shouldn't have slown down (I won't tell you where because it'll spoil it). It was probably a game bug.

My only "slowdowns" had to do with enemy 'respawning' (game AI, I guess) - I went to the easiest playing strength (where they don't respawn) to get through the scene. Other than that - even with an 8500 - it was very playable.

Maybe try it on a partition with a 'clean install' of 98SE (but I hate to do that for any game). You DO have the latest patch/driver that ATI released to support NOLF2? ('of course', . . . just checking)

I didn't have any problems with enemies in general, it was just one specific place (the final battle with the little clown) which slowed down dramatically.

Catalyst 3.0 should have that fix rolled into it.

I didn't have any problems with the little mime. Hmmm

However, you have a 9700 pro with XP and mine (and NEVERwinter's) is an 8500 with 98SE (and XP). Might be some subtle differences here. Or try it on a clean install of whatever O/S you like (I do this as a last resort).

And I was checking to see that he had the LATEST drivers.

Finally, since it is a Radeon - try the forums at Rage3D.com. They have a larger base of users that have Radeons AND Nolf2.

Nolf2 runs fine on my Windoze 2000 box. The best fix for stuttering seems to be upgrading ram to 500+ megs, if you don't believe me check Nolfgirl.com forums. Usual problem with games using Lithtech engines, all games work very well on my puter except Nolf1/2, AvP2.
