NOLF 2

I just got NOLF2 the other day after reading about all the great reviews but I must say that the game has its ups and downs. The first level(s) to me absolutely sucked, you know the level where its just those pesky Ninjas.

Then right after those level(s) came the mountains and outdoors with the snow mobile and the game went to 'great' real fast. Now I am on level 4 and its actually a pain in the arse (at least to me) this is the level where I think its like 3 maps which are linked together and you have to set some explosives on all three levels while getting information about other stuff too all the while the enemy soldiers are respawning all the frigg'n time .

Trust me when I say that I am really trying to like this game but this level 4 has got me dizzy go back and forth and back and forth and back and forth :disgust: 😕

You're not alone.
I HATED that Ninja crap too!

Its gets better after the Trailer Park though.

Get the walkthrough.

I like it.

The game was pretty good but I thought the original was better. The second was shorter and had some lame jokes and lame bits in the story.

The reason they're spawing is because you keep triggering the alarms from the spotlights. Shoot the searchlights and after you kill the spawned enemies they won't come back again.

I agree that the first NOLF was more "original" . . . ahem 😛

😀

Sequels tend to be "that way". What I did like - UNlike Unreal II - was the EVOLUTION of the game story, graphics, weapons, added search features, comedy, etc. NOLF II was more than just adding a "pretty" expansion pack on to NOLF.

Some of it worked, some didn't. You can criticize it much like you can criticize a movie. However, it IS at the top of it genre and other game developers are attempting to copy its features and "steal" ideas from it. I am looking forward to NOLF 3.

As to it's shorter length; I though it was "fine" - longer than Unreal II and with a more coherent storyline - Some really great humour and some really stupid flat jokes . . . too bad we can't customize the cut scenes and dialog (maybe someday). I thought the original NOLF was too long.

Well, I finished level 4 (whew!) and to boot it was totally on accident, lol, I was just wondering around and jumped in a vent and then Bam, I was out of that building. The next couple of levels were as easy as pie BUT and its a big BUT, now I'm in Akron, Ohio ( I think) and theres frigg'n a bijillion ninjas everywhere <sigh>

Good grief and I thought level 4 was bad with the respawns....to be continued 😀

WOW!! I just finished the level whee we are outside in some trailerpark and there is a tornado very near by and there are Ninjas dropping out of the sky on me, LOL, I couldn't believe it.

So now I am in India....to be continued 😀

heh sweet game🙂 i did use the walkthrough a few times, but i do that with most any game since i'm impatient🙂 if i have to circle a level more then a few times and feel lost i quickly resort to walkthrough.

I actually played the game in India and it didn't seem too funny at the time. Those frikkin rickshaws are a menace on the roads!

Big NOLF-2 Multiplayer "Patch" due this week
The ?first big
release? (as Monolith put it) is a huge NOLF2 multiplayer patch which will be
released within a week or two, adding deathmatch, team deathmatch, and a
new gameplay mode called Doomsday. The patch should contain over 10
maps, many based on NOLF2 single-player levels (including Siberia, Japan,
and Khios), but including large pieces of original architecture as well. In many
ways, the Doomsday modification shares some similarities with games like
Capture the Flag: there are three parts of a ?doomsday device,? and if your
team can collect all three pieces and bring them back to their base, they win the
level. In keeping with NOLF2?s often lighthearted tone, the other team is
annihilated in entertaining fashion, with an electrical pulse quickly rippling from
the device across the entire level, eventually killing all the enemies in its path.
We had a chance to playtest the mod for about an hour, and it was amu sing to
see enemies scramble around and try to hide once the device was set off (even
though there?s really no way to avoid destruction at that point).
Can't mget enough NOLF2?

There is a big expansion pack slated for this year where you get to play as a "bad guy". 😀

I loved the game. The single-player was fun, if a bit on the short side, and I actually love the simple deathmatch that is already available - I can't wait to see what they have cooked up for the new patch.

The ninja girls in the first level might be pesky, but try being stealthy and listen in to the conversations...

"Want to go to the mall tonight?"
"I can't, I've got an assasination..."

LOL

NOLF 2 has some of the best in-game humor I've seen. Great game.

I just finished the level whee we are outside in some trailerpark and there is a tornado very near by and there are Ninjas dropping out of the sky on me, LOL, I couldn't believe it.
I was really short on ammo at the trailer park because bullets were far and few between and the Ninja bodies kept evaporating so I couldn't search them. That level was almost too unfair really.

The house fight inside the tornado was quite easy though, and I did like using the Katana to slice up my opponent. 😉

Yeah, the the trailer park level was pretty good and very original too, this game definately has some real good parts in it but like I said in my first post, level 4 was a pain in the butt for me as I don't like those type of puzzles in my FPS 🙂

Don't get me wrong I don't mind some challenges as that makes it a little more interesting but going back and forth in levels where they look a like is maddening for an idiot like me 😀

to be continued...

If you max out the search skill you have just enough time to fully loot the girls before they evaporate. I like how there are spots where you notice consequences of the little skill point system so it doesn't appear totally irrelevant. It's not so exciting that I feel compelled to replay the game just to try different skills, but it's still a nice touch.

That wouldn't help me much since the bodies would often vanish long before I even reached them.

heh i just resorted to walk through on that level. apparently your supposed to run like hell.. and well.. it worked!

I got to the beginning of the India level, but I fricken lost my save game, and have to start over, and really don't have the motivation to do the ninja level, and the snowy level again. 🙁

Could anyone hook me up with a save game?
