It looks pretty, but I think this is just a little dip in the water just to get their feet wet.

I'm still good with my current setup anyway, so I'm just watching from a distance this round. The next generation of phones early-mid next year is what I'm looking forward to. I will have loads of options. Nokia WP(8?), iPhone 5, potentially several Android ICS phones, and maybe even a BBX(!) phone? :)

I don't get why there is so much lethargy when it comes to releasing WP7 phones.

If they released a phone with a Nokia E7 body, Nokia N8 camera, Verizon LTE, and Mango....it might just be the greatest phone of all time. I am not hopefuly, though.

Rumors now are that they will wait until after the holidays to bring them to the US and start advertising. :/

Nice tags for the topic, btw :D

I like the n9 body better, no keyboard for me! BUt honestly, Mango runs perfectly well on my Surround, and I cannot get a discounted phone until next May or something, so for me I am just waiting and seeing what comes out that I can jump on with AT&T.

Well, I will hope. I haven't seen either Nokia body in person, so I really don't know which I'd prefer, but they both look nice. I'm not sold on any of the Verizon 4G phones out now or coming out next month. With Radioshack's current discounts, my wife and I tried to buy 2 Bionics last week...but Radioshack apparently has refused to sell that particular phone since last Wednesday for undisclosed reasons. Verizon shoulda gotten the Galaxy S2 also :p.

Same, except the Titan keeps calling my name and my battery is taking a dump on my Surround.

Hell, if they put the N8 camera into the E7 body, I'd buy it even if everything else is the same, including Symbian.

God, the Titan... that phone is HUGE.

I would have to see what the screen on the Nokia devices look like. I am not crazy about how pixellated the Focus and Omnia 7 are, even if the blacks are really great.

I have big hands, want the 1.5ghz processor, and refuse to buy a Samsung after the GPS bullshit.

This x 100.

You'd think Microsoft would be pushing hard with either the Apple strategy of one (or a few) awesome handsets or the Google strategy of getting WP7 on as many handsets that meet their hardware requirements as possible from as many manufacturers as possible. Instead they don't seem to be doing much of anything which is just mind-boggling.

I don't think I've ever read that. If anything, I hear something like "Mango looks awesome, I just wish it had dual core and qHD" - kinda the opposite of your quote :)

They are definitely trying for the Google approach. The problem is that the OEMs have basically NO reason to go with WP7 over Android. Android has tons of momentum, sales are incredible and growing rapidly, and it's cheap/free.

That's starting to change with all of the lawsuits/licensing agreements surrounding Android. My understanding is that MS intends to use the licensing fees collected from HTC's/Samsung's Android devices towards advertising those OEMs' Windows Phones. We'll see if this strategy works.

It sounds likeMS have been waiting for Nokia and Mango before starting a big advertising push. I'm still holding out hope that 2012 will be a huge year for Windows Phone. I have another 9 months before my next upgrade. . . hopefully Windows Phone will be a viable and rapidly-growing ecosystem by them. Otherwise I might just have to get a Galaxy S3, Nexus 6, or whatever.

There is also the fact that Microsoft is very far behind when it comes to hardware. Both Google and Apple are pushing phones with high res screens, dual core processors and high end gpus while WP7 is just now getting 45nm single core snapdragons and adreno 205s and has yet to see a single qHD device.
