Nokia unveils mid-air messaging

cool but impractical. Hey I guess that defines camera phones for most people too. 😉

So basically there ripping off those black plastic spinny things that have messages like "Party On!" and stuff from theme parks that came out 5 years ago?

I wonder how many phone people are gonna be throwing around and breaking. Guess it's Nokias strategy of pumping out phones because of damage.

So what's so different about that then their current philosophy on making phones?

I knew I guy that built something like that at home and was trying to market it 10 years ago or so. It was the same concept, except that you whirled it around like a party noise maker. He had a bunch of phrases in there like TAXI! and such.

I can think so many useful features to pile onto cell phones, but every knuckle-dragging joe sixpack is so obsessed with cameras and ringtones and pretty covers, so this is the hot new feature that comes out.

Great.

sometimes i wish they would take the money spent on gimmicks for phones and put it into making a system that gives me better nationwide coverage. you know, for talking, the thing phones are designed to do....but maybe that's just me. clearly certain phones sell based on gimmicks versus other, not-so-gimmicky phones. is gimmicky even a word?

It's ludicrous. I have a Sidekick, and of all the brilliant things you could probably think of wishing a handheld web terminal could do, 99% of the people are pissing and moaning becuase they want more games and more ringtones.

Who cares?! If I wanted games, I'd play my GBA. If I wanted songs, I'd listen to my Nomad.

What you've never been in a situation where you voice is gone and a mad killer is behind your girlfriend, so you need someway to warn her. Mind you I don't know if she would get it if you waved, KLLRBHNDU.

She would be like "Call or be Hindu? WTF? *gurck*"

now at night you can tell someone off from a safe distance 🙂
what the hell would you use that for....honestly...

They've had these types of things for a while now. They are not on phones but stand alone products in which you spin around and it writes things out in the air.

damnit. i swear to god i had that idea like a year ago and never did anything about it. i think they broke into my head and stole my idea.
