a *guy* on the net told me this and I got my friend to try it out. My friend from college happened to be online right now and hes got a 3310 connected to 121 so I got him to do it and it *seems* to work for him. He gets the radar thing up with the 5 zeros next to it. It seems to go away after a while but when you press the *c* button it comes back. So I presume that it stays on.

But he doens't live near a camera or drives so he can't test it out. I have a motorola so I can't check for myself. I'll check to see if it *does* work when I can borrow my dads 8210. So I'll see if he can get the radar thing up. And check if it works.

Your suppose to get a ringing sound or a txt message sound when the camera is near and then you hit the dam brakes!.

As I said a guy on the net told me this. Hes in my CS clan and I've not known him for long. Also he told me it doesn't work with people on Orange I think as they don't have user groups I think?

Also Hes in Ireland and *he* told me it works on 3 people hes tried out. And the radar thing comes up on my friends phone so I'm going to see if I can get it to come up on my dads phone.

The guy works at Nortel in Ireland and found out about this yesterday and he told me.
I dont' know if its true so I'm going to check later and if you can check try it out. Does it work for you? I don't think it'll work in the states though but I'm not sure.............

ps. Why does the radar thing come up if it doesn't find speed traps out? I was thinking the guy was tlaking utter BS as how is a mobile suppose to find out if a speed camera is near????

He told me that the nokias work at 1700MHz and the speed camera works at 1500MHz and he gave me some talk about over spill and something else...don't know what he was on about though..........

hmm, sounds a little dubious, but seeing as I have a nokia phone and there is a speed camera about 1/4 of a mile down the road I might just have to go and try this out.

Well, I've just tried it out on my 6210 and my dad's 8210 (both on vodafone) and neither of them even bring up the radar symbol so I'm not going to waste my time going out for a drive with it.

If you don't want the camera to catch you, drive past it at 147 MPH or more and your car will not show in the picture!!

I hated those damn things when I lived in UK.

Tested this on my 3210 and I got like a tiny picture of three boxes with lines that connect them all and then 00000 text... dont know if anything else happened

Stop and think. With the intense competition of the cell phone market, if one manufacturer somehow built in a radar detector why in the world would they keep it a secret? There ain't no way in the world it functions as a radar detector.

As if they are going to build in a feature like a radar detector but keep it secret, and make such a big deal about downloading ringtones which are useless.

SUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!

This is the funniest scam ever, here in Melbourne, Australia this scam caused a huge panic in the police force, they launched a HUGE investigation to find out if Nokia chose to allow radar detectors in the mobile phones!!!!

For the slightly cluey you will know that radar operates well over the 0.9 and 1.8GHz range that the GSM standards operate at (depending on which band radar is being used) and you will know that an antenna thats designed for those frequencies would be hopelessly inefficient at the higher frequencies.

But it was sooooooooooo funny seeing the top brass in the police force panicking about nothing, I would love to shake hands with the genius who thought of this scam... WELL DONE!!! ;)

Cheers
