Incorrect. Dell is $420 before tax. You must be mistaking this with the n800 which is the previous generation. Still too much, IMV when UMPC's are generally dropping in price quite a bit. Very low specs.

As best I can recall, I have never been charged tax from Buy.com I guess it depends on what state you are in.

Do you know what the differences are between the n800 and n810?

The n800 and n810 are pretty much the same except the n810 has a slideout keyboard.

I love my n800 and take it with me just about everywhere. For me it fulfills all the functionality of a laptop with the bluetooth keyboard I bought.

Supposedly, as the n800 was a bit slower of a seller than Nokia wanted, they took all of the suggestions/complaints and made it better. Nokia has an excellent track record of improving it's devices in reiterations. I'll wait and see if this thing hits woot.

all you are wrong ... the 810 and 800 have exact same processor and speed....

the 810 has GPS and slide out keyboard. they are both really awesome devices. I have n800 and love it. Runs a version of linux and has great community, iphone killer that came out 1 year before iphone. n90 is even better ...

I'd say the device is quite useless. I don't know how good the GPS and navigation software is, but other than that it's just a high-res PDA with Wi-Fi and sliding keyboard running some exotic linux. Blackberry or iPhone or any internet device using cellular networks is much more useful. I tried N700 and couldn't find any use for it.

Well it can sync with a phone using Bluetooth and browse the net. I do this a lot with my N800 and RAZR when I can't connect to WiFi. I'd say the Nokia internet tablets are great little devices. They have their downsides, but so do many other PDAs and cell phones. iPhone, for example, doesn't support 3G, so you're stuck browsing at what, about 100kbps?

And, of course if you don't need the GPS and hardware keyboard, you can get an N800 for about half the price. The on-screen keyboard isn't bad, but if you'd like a real keyboard you can get the iGo Stowaway for about $40. Folded up it's about the same size as the N800.

EDIT: And for the person who asked earlier, the OS2008 browser does support Google Docs.

An iPhone killer that doesn't even have phone capabilities. VoIP is nice for what it is, but WiFi isn't nearly as available as cellular.

Maybe someone can comment on what the positives/negatives are between the N810 and the ASUS EEE PC that is a full featured laptop, although larger than the N810. The N810 is pretty large for a pocket unless you're wearing some kind of huge cargo pants, so I think the comparison is valid and they're the same price.

Personally, if it doesn't fit in my pocket anyway, I'd rather go for the full blown laptop if it's the same price.

Uses an OMAP3xxx instead of OMAP2xxx, 625MHz, opengl es2.0 (about as powerful as a gamecube), clamshell design with 4.3" 800x480 touch screen, thumb keyboard, dual analog controllers, dpad + face buttons, shoulder buttons, dual SDHC cards, etc. est ~$320 retail.

I don't see how I'm wrong.

By the way I have an N90 and I assure you, it's a great camera and an above average smartphone, but it's functionality is not even close to a proper touch screen pda phone (NOT the iphone, more like the MDA). The n90 also lacks a keyboard which is a large downside. I never said that the processor or internal components were better. I simply stated that they made it "better" certainly the keyboard of the 810 alone makes it better than the 800, which to me is the most important factor. Comparing the n90 to the 800 and 810 is silly, they are supposed to be used together. That being said, having the n90 and an 810 would be the road-warrior's ultimate combo. Great for journalists, businesspeople etc.
