Got one Nokia 8260 for free (pay tax ~$25) and sign up 1 year contract with MCI (using AT&T network) for $29.99/month with 125 anytime minutes and

either:

1. 300 Weekend/offpeak time minutes plus no long distance charge, and voice mail.

or

2. 1000 Weekend/offpeak time minutes

No activation fee. Out of door price: ~$25.

I did it at an "asian store" at Milpitas called "Sun Wireless", 1693 N. Milpitas Blvd. (tel. 408-935-9289)

What's the difference between this and the 8290? Some places are still giving out 8290s regardless of what the companies are say about how they're not allowed to give them out anymore.

MCI doesn't have a Wireless network, so they use AT&T Wireless'. It kinda like your local phone services services; AT&T only provides the "network", everything else is handled by MCI (Tech, Bill, etc..)

AT&T service is very good. i jumped on a similar deal for a 5160 back in september. free phone, free activation, $25 tax and they gave $50 rebate and $40 oldnavy GC. 1 year contract.

I've had verizon and my uncle had sprint pcs. AT&T is definitely the way to go.
