noisy psu on SFF shuttle box needs replacement

I have an older SFF shuttle box, SV25 I think, and the fan on the PSU is going out. Has anyone replaced these? Is it easy? Where can you buy new psu fans for these smaller psu's?

It is a 1u power supply and so it has either a 40mm or 50mm fan. mm's are hard to measure so you can convert them to 4 and 5 cm, respectively. Http://www.nexfan.com carries some Evercool fans in these rare sizes. Try to get a ball-bearing fan if you possibly can. These last so much longer than sleeve bearing fans.

I'm really surprised Shuttle didn't use a higher quality fan in the PSU.

There is a SFF forum on viahardware (aka Samiam or Samantha ) that has many SV24 / 25 users and threads on modding. Some users have even hooked up external laptop-style PSUs for zero-noise.
