Noisy Fan in Ge3 Ti 200

Anybody know why a fan in a Ge3 Ti 200 would be so noisy whenever booting up a PC? As soon as Windows starts, it quiets down but the noise is really disturbing, like something?s about to break. I had another Ge3 Ti200 do the same thing every time and I exchanged it for another one which didn?t do it right away but started doing it recently, but not every time-like every OTHER bootup. I?ve already checked the fan physically (had done so on the other card as well) and didn?t see anything there that shouldn?t be. If there is no simple fix, is there a way to just shut the fan off - or would that not be a good idea? My card is a Visiontek Xtasy, and don?t know how hot they run. But it?s not overclocked or anything. Any suggestions?

I've noticed the same thing in my ti200(Visiontek also), but not just when booting up, and not as severe as you describe. It seems that the fan in the card is the loudest component in my system. Anyone have a suggestion for a (quieter) replacement?

I have the same card and my fan recently started making noises, kind of like a flat tire rhythm, but with a fan sound (make sense?). Anyway, i checked, and the fan was spinning at about 60rpm....very, very slowly. I had to flick it to get it going again. After a day or so, it slowed down again. So, I just popped off the retail HSF and installed a Crystal Orb with some AS3, and it works great. The CrOrb is pretty quiet too, at least I can't hear it over the other case fans.

You can see my install here.

Something tells me most things are better than a 60rpm flat tire, though.
Good luck with fan noise! 😉
