Noise in case

The noise in my case started happening today... it sort of sounds like a wire in a fan and a grinding sound but very lightly, I checked all of the fans in my case and it's not. It's off and on, it's not constant... I'm running my computer now with the side panel off and it's making the noise. I have no idea where it's coming from, it's not REALLY loud but it's louder then I want my computer to be. What else could cause noises in a computer case?

Harddrive maybe?

How about shutting down and unplugging your harddrive... then let it start up and see if the sound persists?

Did you check the PSU fans as well?

How about a case fan that has a slightly defective bearing, that comes and goes ?

It was the chipset... don't know what thought, nothing was touching it. I turned it off and messed with it a bit and now there's no more sound :D
